And then the sun came out…..

Autumn forage

Having nearly given up on ever seeing that sun again, it decided to show its face today… so we went to pick some blackberries.

The Blackberries (abridged)

Today, on hills and downland

Are laden lanes and ledges

Fat with fruit and berries

Unpicked across the hedges

That straggle on their edges

Forgotten for the present

Now visited by few

The souls of men are fidgets

They’ve better things to do

Than stain or prick their digits

And hold containers steady

But blackberries are ready

Blackberries are ready.
